BANGALORE: To push IT companies to set up their shops in second tier cities in the State, the State Government has decided not to give lands to them to set up Special Economic Zone (SEZ)s in and around Bangalore.

Announcing this, Large and Medium Scale Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu told reporters on Monday that this decision was taken to send the IT companies to second tier cities such as Mysore, Mangalore and Hubli-Dharwad.

He said the Government would encourage manufacturing sector SEZs in Bangalore.

He also said that to stop acquiring agriculture land for SEZs, the Government would prepare guidelines soon.
