The Bangalore Development Authority has called upon holders of Civic Amenity sites allotted by BDA to renew the lease on the sites.

The Bangalore Development Authority has called upon holders of Civic Amenity sites allotted by BDA to renew the lease on the sites. The original lease agreement was for 30 years, under which various associations and organisations had purchased sites formed by the erstwhile City Improvement Trust Board and BDA.

“The new lease becomes due as and when the period of the existing one ends. There could be a gap of one or two months after that date, but we will be penalising site owners for the delay as well,” BDA Commissioner M K Shankaralinge Gowda told Deccan Herald on Monday.

More than 1,000 CA sites come under the lease renewal bracket, according to Mr Gowda. If the lease is not renewed, the BDA will take possession of the sites and properties on them, he added. When asked about instances wherein CA sites had been utilised for commercial purposes, the Commissioner said, “We’ll come to know of such violations during the lease renewal and offenders will be penalised.” He said site owners have to pay a “nominal” amount as renewal charges.

Owners of CA sites may approach the BDA office for renewal of lease. For details, call 23464064.
