BANGALORE: The ayudha puja last week followed by state wide bandh called by pro-Kannada activists has come as a blow to the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s (BMP) garbage management.

BMP is faced with the perennial problem of garbage clearance and disposal on many accounts.

Lack of proper segregation and disposal facility affect garbage collection every day. On Sunday and Monday, the city generated about 4,000 tonnes of waste which is normal for any festival day.

Even as the civic body was grappling with the additional load, Karnataka Bandh on Wednesday grounded the 350 strong fleet of garbage trucks. The contractors were worried about their trucks getting attacked by the activists.

BMP chief medical officer Dr Vijayalaxmi told this website’s newspaper that there was some problem with garbage clearance due to bandh.Pooja, bandh pile up garbage
