BANGALORE: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) on Wednesday fined the building owners who had dumped construction material on the road and the side walk of St John’s Church road.

Commissioner K Jairaj ordered the Joint Commissioner (East) to take necessary steps to collect Rs 20,000 penalty.

Jairaj inspected major roads in the east zone to take stock of the condition of the roads.

He visited M G Road, St Mark’s Road, Cubbon Road, Ulsoor Road, Miller Road, Mekhri Circle, Sheshadri Road, Palace Road, Kensington Road, Gurudwara surroundings, Jayamahal Road, Kumara Kripa Road, Gandhi Bhavan surroundings, Crescent Road, Race Course Road and Nripathunga Road.

The Commissioner told this website's newspaper that the civic body needs to improve St John’s Church Road while rest of the roads are in good condition.

The widening of Jayamahal Road would be expedited, he said. Jairaj instructed officials to ensure completion of pending works at the earliest and to fence all the BMP assets in the zone.

Jairaj is doing all this for publicity. Let him go round his own dirty complexes and try to do something overthere. Unauthorised shops, squatters, shops under stair cases - all violations galore. If BMP/BDA violate the rules no punishment.
