BANGALORE: The Bannerghatta Biological Park situated on the outskirts of the City in on a revamp mode. Tenders have been called for the two phase facelift programme costing Rs 10 crores.

Managing Director and Deputy Conservator of Forests of Bannerghatta Park V Geetanjali said that the master plan awaits State Government’s nod. “Once the project gets the approval, we will implement it by year-end,” she said.

Besides providing an excellent opportunity of safari amidst flagship species including white tigers and Asiatic lions, the park also houses excellent wildlife, just 22-kms away from silicon plateau.

“The project will be carried out in two phases. We will strengthen the present compound wall and expand the safari and zoo area from the present 731 acres,” she said.

“The new project will be implemented by the Karnataka Urban Development and Finance Corporation and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation,” she added.

The park which attracts around 12 lakh visitors every year will soon have another attraction added - the butterfly park. The new butterfly park has been operating from last year but still not open for public.

“The butterfly park is all set to open. Once the road construction is over, the park will be open for public”, she added.
