BMTC incurs Rs 1.48 crore revenue loss

BANGALORE: The non-plying of buses due to the bandh on Wednesday has made the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) incur revenue loss to the tune of Rs 1.48 crore.
A release stated that BMTC would also suffer an additional loss of Rs 0.62 crore due to the damages caused to four of its buses, which includes the loss of traffic revenue during the period of repairing the damaged buses.
One bus each was partially damaged at R T Nagar, Electronic City, Magadi Road and Hebgodi.
KSRTC has incurred a revenue loss of Rs 2.82 crore along with a traffic revenue loss of Rs 0.82 crore during repair of its two buses damaged during the bandh. One Volvo Bus was damaged at Nelamangala and one Express bus was damaged at Kunigal.
There was virtually no operations of buses in Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur and Chikkodi, while only partial operations were on in Hubli, Gadag and Sirsi.
NEKRTC’s operations were limited to plying of around 60 buses. The revenue losses of NWKRTC and NEKRTC have been calculated to be Rs 1.50 crore and Rs 0.80 crore respectively.
All the five corporations retained a large number of buses in their depots or bus stations, following the advice by local police authorities.
The total revenue loss accrued to the corporations is Rs 10.41 crore which includes their expenditure of Rs 2.37 crore towards payments to the personnel.
Some buses plying towards major bus stations were detained at various places. Reportedly, one of the buses moving from Shirdi to Bangalore was detained at Tumkur and the passengers were moved to Bangalore by train.BMTC incurs Rs 1.48 crore revenue loss
