It will be a double take for the garbage collection lorries in the City on Thursday. Garbage dumps aplenty remained as and where they were during the day-long bundh on Wednesday. Reportedly, hardly any of the garbage collection lorries were pressed into service for the day.

Sources said that the garbage contractors did not want to risk any untoward incidents, but sources also noted that some of these lorries were diverted for bundh-related processions and other duties.

The no-garbage pick-up day coming just two days after the pooja holidays and the related festivities, is expected to make for some hardwork for the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike authorities and the contractors on Thursday.


Dr Vijayalakshmi, BMP Chief Health Officer, was, however, optimistic. Much of the festival-related waste had been cleared by Tuesday, she noted.
