Bangalore: The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) is conducting a survey on building deviations in ongoing constructions and basement violations in existing structures, sources in the BMP said. The survey comes in the light of the amendment to the Karnataka Town Planning and Country Act. The Bill proposes regularisation up to 25 per cent in commercial buildings and 50 per cent in residential buildings. The Bill is awaiting Governor T.N. Chaturvedi's assent.

In anticipation of the proposed amendment, the BMP was creating a data bank of building violations, sources said. BMP Commissioner K. Jairaj has directed all ward engineers to conduct a survey and present a consolidated list on the number and kind of deviations in the three zones of the city.
