Holiday rush brings traffic to halt
Deccan Herald
The roads leading towards Majestic area were chock-a-block, with all roads being jammed with large number of vehicles on Thursday. It was a replay of the last festival season when people flocked to the Central Bus Stand and Railway Station, heading to out-station places on occasion of the five day holidays for Deepavali Festival and Ramzan.
Traffic jam started occurring at around 5pm when travellers started to move towards Majestic area.
People were seen trudging with their luggage along the K G Road to reach the KSRTC bus stand and Railway Station, frustrated by the long traffic jam. Most traffic police personnel were deployed in the Majestic area to manage the huge traffic flow.
Double trouble
“The vehicular denisity is twice that of the ususal peak hour witnessed in Majestic. It would require more than two hours to clear the traffic at 10.30pm and people are still coming towards the bus stand”.
Bottleneck
He said that the traffic bottleneck was the narrow entrance to Majestic bus stand. Traffic has been diverted from State Bank of Mysore Circle to allow those who want to reach Rajajinagar and north Bangalore areas.
