Time to call for & finalise tenders
The Times of India

Bangalore: It is time to call for tenders, pursue them and finalise the Bangalore Metro Rail project.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) will soon be giving the approval for issuing the request for proposal (RFP) for appointing the general consultants, who will then take charge of the project implementation.
Currently, the BMRC is undertaking a lot of background work, keeping in mind that it needs to commence the physical work for the first segment of Phase I project by November first week.
It has begun to put out an update every three weeks. On hand is the task to finalise the rehabilitation package programme for the residents/traders of CMH Road and Mahakavi Kuvempu Road, whose representatives have met chief minister H D Kumaraswamy. The CM has promised to visit them once again shortly to see what best can be done to help them.
Also, the BMRC had a meeting with BDA and principal secretary (urban development) to find out how some more help can be given to the land losers and has sought government’s sanction to make the areas along the Metro Rail corridor commercial so that people benefit.
Work on utility shifting will start on October 2, which will be the first hurdle cleared on ground for the project, and it will be done in phases in 14 places.
