Emergency response services will be just a click away for Bangaloreans as the Topsline – 1252 – set up by the Mumbai-based Topsgrup, a security agency, now plans to set foot in Bangalore.

Addressing a gathering at a seminar on ‘Mall Safety’ organised by the Retailers Association of India on Wednesday, the Chief Managing Director of Tops Security Ltd, Mr Diwan Rahul Nanda said, “Topsline will be launched soon. Topsline has more than four lakh subscribers in Mumbai presently. In the last one year alone, this emergency line has helped save 5,000 lives in Mumbai.”

Once up in Bangalore, subscribers can avail of the services by paying Rs 100 per month, Mr Nanda said.

The company is also set to launch Tops Air Rescue, an air ambulance transportation service, hospitals, nursing homes, medical assistance, he said and added that Topsgrup is also a certified security company providing comprehensive security services.

He said that the security guards are specially trained in emergency services and fire safety measures.

Meanwhile, Mr Chengappa, Joint Director of the Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services, urged the representatives of the shopping malls in the City to ensure proper emergency exits and entrances for customers and not to compromise with their lives for want of funds.

He said, “Panic is the worst enemy during emergency. When in panic, people react without thinking thus creating more problems. In the recent tragedy at Malegaon, in Maharashtra, most victims died in a stampede than in the blast, due to narrow escape routes. A broad exit point with easy access to the outdoors, would be most effective in containing the losses on such occasions.”

Mr Gibson G Vedamani, Chief Executive Officer of the Retailers Association of India said that customers need to feel secure at shopping malls in order to enjoy the shopping experience. Good security measures will go a long way in creating trust among customers, he added.
