No more overloaded maxi-cabs, buses

Bangalore: Maxi-cabs, inter-state buses and contract buses watch out: The entire transport infrastructure has been put on alert to check cheating and smuggling in of more passengers than those sanctioned.
Transport minister N Cheluvarayaswamy told reporters here on Wednesday that staff of the 54 regional transport offices, joint commissioner of transport office, ARTOs and others had been asked to tighten up on vigilance. “Interstate buses in particular bring more people than permitted in their buses. The same is the case of maxi-cabs which are overloaded and ply on routes not permitted to them. We cannot ban maxicabs, but I have asked my officers to take strict action against them,” he stated.
