Bangalore: The elevated expressway on Hosur Road appears to be on track. The construction and covering of drains on either side of the road continues. Some 1,200 metres of drains have been done. Wherever the drains have been done, the main road itself is b e i n g widened up to the drain. “About 500 metres of this road widening work is expected to be completed in the next four days,” said an official who is involved in the work.
About 3 km of service road has also been taken up for widening. Earth compaction work is on in this stretch. The official said that about 3 km of electric lines have been shifted. A total of 10 km of lines are required to be shifted. Preparatory work for the underpasses have begun. A certain amount of land adjacent to the Hosur Road is required for bus bays, service road, etc, for which the National Highways Authority of I n d i a ( N H A I ) had issued a land acquisition notice a few weeks ago. The possession of this land is expected to be completed in the next two months, the official said.
Meetings have been held with the PWD secretary and the police for the diversion of heavy vehicles on to other roads, to ease traffic on Hosur Road during the construction of the expressway. This diversion would be made possible by December.
