BANGALORE: Bangalore traffic police will get a face-lift in the coming years as the Government is planning to invest Rs 350 crore under B-Trac 2010.

Home Minister M P Prakash said that the Government had already sanctioned Rs 44 crore to modernise traffic police and to make the roads user friendly with better road signs, traffic signals and intersections besides imparting training to traffic personnel. Over Rs 70 crore will be invested each year for the next four years under B-Trac for better traffic management.

Prakash said that the Centre had sanctioned Rs 99 crore for modernising fire force.

The State had sought Rs 323 crore from the Centre to modernise and build new fire stations. Of the 175 taluks in the State, only 155 had fire stations.

“The government has permitted to build 28 new fire stations in the State in the next one year including six stations around the City to meet the growing necessity,” he said.

The government will appoint a Commandant for the proposed Anti Terrorist Squad in the next one week, he said and added that over 4,000 police personnel will be recruited to fill vacant posts.
