BANGALORE: Commissioner of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) K Jairaj along with Mayor Mumtaz Begum inspected markets and hospitals in city and ordered faster completion of ongoing renovation works.

The inspection covered wards 78 and 79 and councillor M K Gunashekhar accompanied the commissioner and mayor. They inspected BMP markets in Vasanthanagar and Russel Market in Shivajinagar.

The contractors were asked to complete reconstruction of Vasanthangar market within nine months as against the original timeframe of 18 months and Russel market within six months. The commissioner also instructed the officials to collect all arrears of license fees within a month.

Jairaj also visited BMP maternity hospital in Vasanthangar and instructed the officials to procure necessary equipment.

Drive against vandalising of footpaths: Commissioner directed officials to collect administrative charges of Rs 5,000 from the owner of property No 45, DK Street, Shivajinagar for storing building material on road and directed the officials to collect Rs 2,000 from persons who dumped debris near Masjid on OPH Road in Shivajinagar.
