CM exposes babus’ NICE pact

Bangalore: A tripartite agreement among the State government, the Governor and NICE sans the signature of any minister, but only a seal of the State government and signature of an official, allowing commercial exploitation of lands allotted for the BMIC project, sounds funny, but this is exactly what a few senior officials in key posts have apparently done.

Making this allegation, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said some senior officials were involved in framing several agreements in favour of NICE, thus affecting the lives of thousands of farmers who lost their lands, while some of these officials later joined that company.

Giving details of the tripartite agreement dated Aug 8, 2002 signed by a senior official, HDK said it enabled NICE to sell lucrative lands adjacent to 10 interchanges to be constructed in the outskirts of Bangalore.

"Similarly in other agreements also, a section of the bureaucracy worked to incorporate favourable clauses for NICE. These officials and also the politicians who supported them should be punished," he said.
