The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will shortly denotify about 177 acres of land in the Arkavathy Layout following a Karnataka High Court order.
“Out of 2,750 acres of land notified for the Layout, 140 acres and 32 guntas will have to be denotified. In addition, some more land belonging to the UAS employees and Nariand Investments will be denotified making it a total of 177 acres and four guntas,” said Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti, informed the Legislative Council during question hour on Thursday.
Mr Horatti confirmed that the Arkavathy Layout might not have 20,000 sites as promised earlier.
In reply to a question by Ms Vimla Gowda (BJP), Mr Horatti , replying on behalf of the Chief Minister said, “The BDA had resolved to drop 140 acres and 32 guntas from the acquisition proceedings as per the Karnataka High Court guidelines issued in November 2005.”
When Mukhyamantri Chandru (BJP) raised the issue of false affidavits to claim government sites, Mr Horatti said that the government would take stringent measures against the offenders.
“We will freeze the sale and purchase of government housing plots by persons holding more than one plot in his name. And steps will be taken to recover plots from those with more than one government housing plot,” Mr Horatti said.
