BANGALORE: As another hospital with advanced cardiac care facilities in the city, Vydehi Institute of Cardiac Sciences began functioning at Vydehi Hospital, Whitefield, here on Thursday.

Bhagawan Sri Satya Sai Baba inaugurated the new institute, which is equipped with the very latest machinery for the treatment of cardiac diseases.

The new institute has two labs and four cardiac operation theatres along with a department of neurology, which has 10 dialysis units.

This unit provides all cardiac treatments including angiograph, angioplasty and open-heart surgery.

Apart from this, the Vydehi Hospital also started evening specialty clinics, which would function between 4-8 pm from Thursday.

The 1000-bed super-specialty Vydehi hospital has 300 beds dedicated exclusively for the charitable treatment of the poor. This also includes two meals and breakfast along with medicines free of cost from the registration till discharge.

Before inaugurating the institute, Sai Baba gave darshana to his devotees gathered in hundreds. He also visited various departments of the hospital.
