Just report the theft to the officials concerned or the control room immediately for officials may now be able to recover your property in a matter of minutes.

Thanks to the newly installed spy cameras at the bus stand, officials can now trace stolen property swiftly.

In an attempt to step up the security measures at the Kempegowda Bus Stand, the KSRTC has installed six spy cameras in and around the bus station. The cameras have been installed on a trail basis.

"With this security system in place, the job of identifying thieves and miscreants is an easy task," KSRTC officials said.

The cameras have been installed at a cost of Rs 16 lakh. The cameras, each of which cost Rs 1.5 lakh, can record the images of objects that are within a 180 degree angle and at a distance of a kilometre-and-ahalf .

Apart from providing security, these cameras also help authorities keep track of the movement of terrorists.

"Touts and private operators, who try to persuade customers of KSRTC to opt for their vehicles, can also be spotted through these cameras. The camerals help us keep track of all activities taking place at the bus stand," the officials added.

Recently, a family travelling from Chhattisgarh lost a bag at the station. The members informed the officials, who with the help of the recording system in these cameras, were able to find the stolen bag.

Sources said that this was possible as somebody had informed the family members about the installation of the cameras in the bus stand.

"It is very important to inform people about the installation of the cameras.Very soon, we may put up information boards in this regard in various places at the bus stand," he remarked.

"The KSRTC will install six more cameras at the bus stand shortly," KSRTC officials said.

With the cameras being operated round-the-clock, officials expect the crime rate to come down by at least 50 per cent.
