THE Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has taken up the task of developing arterial and major roads in the City from Sunday.

BMP commissioner K Jairaj told BVT that 15 teams, each headed by an executive engineer, had been formed to improve the condition of roads and footpaths.

The programme would go on for two months and on an average, 15 roads would be taken up for development per week, he said.

"The teams have been directed to fill potholes, restore footpaths, clean medians, desilt drains and maintain greenery in the City," he informed.

Meanwhile, a team of BMP engineers paid a visit to the rain hit low-lying areas to take stock of the situation, he said.
