Arkavathi Layout: 2nd phase of allotments begins
Deccan Herald

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on Monday initiated the second phase of site allotments in its prestigious Arkavathi Layout. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy handed out the allotment letters to a select few to mark the occasion.

A total of 7,700 sites are being allotted in the second phase taking the total number of identified allottees in the project thus far to 9,510. About 1,810 sites were allotted in the first phase of allotments made in January.

According to BDA Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda another 3,000 sites will be allotted in July; they will also include sites for the farmers who gave up their land for the Arkavathi Layout project.

BDA officials noted that the allottees figuring in the second phase allotments (barring the few who received the allotment letters from the chief minister) are being given their letters through registered post. The dispatch of letters will begin in two days’ time, they said.

Due to some technical hitches online details of the allotments won’t be available right away, it will take some time, they said. Of the 7,700 allotments in the second phase 3,210 are general category allotments.

Package & deadline

The registered post package will contain: 1. The allotment letter or the intimation letter. 2. The no objection certificate (NoC) (for the benefit of allottees applying for loans) 3. Attestation certificate. 4. Affidavit form (where the allottee shall declare the details of other land holdings, if any) 5. Additional information form (on details of family members and their assets).

The allottees will all get a maximum four months time to make their payments upon receipt of the allotment letters, but payments should ideally be made before 60 days. Payments made between 60 and 90 days shall attract a fine of 18 per cent of the site value and those made between 90 and 120 days shall attract a fine of 21 per cent.

BDA’s Arkavathi Layout is notified to have a total of 20,000 sites.

The site value is Rs 2,100 per sq mt; the same is Rs 1,050 per sq mt for the allottees in the economically weaker category.

Relieved lot

It was a much-relieved and happy people that received the Arkavathi site allotment letters from the chief minister at his Home Office Krishna on Monday.

Ex-servicemen, physically challenged people, housemaids were among them. Nandakumar, a former conductor with the BMTC, said that he had got a site in the fifth attempt.

For Ratnamma, a housemaid, success with the BDA came in her sixth attempt. Subbaramma Reddy from Yelahanka received the allotment under the physically challenged category.

He was accompanied by a middle-aged daughter. It was his first attempt for a site, he said.

I have seen the cutoff details of ex service men. it says all born before 53. ie to say 53 years and above. the sites alloted are total 661. are there so many ex/service men in karnataka. also it was said the ex /service men applicants are far less than the number of sites to be given ie is to say of the proposed 15000 sites 10% for ex/servicemen that comes to 1500. if they were originally less number of applicants why iss that i have not got it. can I invoke RTI to get information
