HE Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is finalising the alignment of the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), after taking into consideration the houses, lakes and graveyards through which the proposed PRR runs," BDA Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda said on Monday.

Talking to reporters during the token release of Arkavathi Layout sites to shortlisted applicants, he said that a satellite imagery survey had shown that several houses, graveyards and lakes were obstructing the alignment of the PRR.

"At one point, there were around 200 Janata Houses that were in the way of the PRR. We have no intention of demolishing these structures. Hence, we are realigning the PRR," he said.

"As per the Chief Ministers direction, as many as 7,700 sites have been allotted in the second phase while around 1,810 sites have been allotted in the first phase," he said.

Around 3,000 sites would be allotted in the month of July. These would include incentive sites to farmers, whose lands had been acquired for the purpose of forming the layout, and those claiming compensation for revenue lands lost by them in the acquisition process.

"This process will be done after verifying the documents possessed by those claiming the revenue sites. The remaining sites will be allotted as and when the litigations are over," the Commissioner said.

The Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) would be approved by the government by the end of October or by the beginning of September. Gowda said works on laying of roads were on at Visvesvaraya Layout and Banashankari VI Phase.
