Residents cry foul over land-grabbing
The Times of India

Bangalore: Residents of Viveknagar, at a meeting on Thursday, alleged that land-grabing is rampant in their locality, where buildings are being constructed on sites which do not have authentic documents.

“We know that civic officials are also involved in sanctioning the site without conducting prior investigation into the matter,” claimed K Akila, an active resident of the area.

Asked if people buying plots are aware of the scam, she said: “Once a site is registered and a possession certificate given to residents, they do not check if the certificate they have recieved is fake or genuine.”
Residents plan to take up the matter with the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) for further investigations.
When BDA was contacted on the issue, one official said: “Let the matter come to us and we will investigate. So far, we are not aware of illegal occupancy of land in the area.’’
