Bangalore Mahanagara Palike commissioner K Jairaj has issued orders for intensive cleaning and restoration of footpaths in the limits of BMP with effect from May 8 and complete by June 15.

In a circular issued on Saturday, Mr Jairaj has asked the engineering staff of the BMP to make a thorough plan and execute the same within the time limit. The drive includes cleaning and restoration of footpaths along all major and minor roads in each ward. He has ordered that footpaths should be free from debris and garbage and any kind of obstruction.

The assistant engineer, junior engineer of the ward are entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the drive meticulously and also asked to submit progress reports once a week.

Executive engineers have been asked to consolidate weekly reports and submit the same to zonal chief engineers and the report will be in turn submitted to the commissioner through zonal joint commissioners on every Wednesday, commencing from May 17.
