Fare deal: Transport body warns autos

Bangalore: The Regional T ransport Authority , Bangalore Urban District, while announcing the new auto fares of Rs 10 for a minimum distance of 1.6 km and Rs 6 for each subsequent km, has stressed that auto drivers should not demand fares in excess of one-and-ahalf times the meter reading between 10 pm and 5 am. Revised tariff comes into effect from Mar 15.
Fare meters will be recalibrated within three months.
Till that happens, approved fare conversion charts will have to be displayed in autorickshaws. VTN
Revised tariff
* Minimum fare - Rs 10 (for the first 1.6 km)
* For every subsequent km
* Rs 6 (earlier Rs 5 for 3 passengers)
* Waiting charges for first five minutes - nil
