BANGALORE: General Manager of South Western Railway (SWR) T.N. Perti on Wednesday inaugurated the state-of-the-art surveillance system at the Bangalore City Railway Station.
With the increased threat perception and the Tuesday's bomb blast at the Varanasi Cantonment Railway Station, the system will help the Railways to keep a close watch on anti-social elements, SWR sources said.
While the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai, Secunderabad Railway Station and the Chennai Central Railway Station have similar systems, the sources said, the one installed at the Bangalore station is the latest.
The digital video recorder-based system comprises 48 channels of real time video inputs.
This integrated system enables viewing of outputs of all cameras at a time on two 42-inch plasma screens installed at the control room.
Mr. Perti also inaugurated four more coin-based platform ticket-vending machines on the railway station premises.
