The swearing-in ceremony of the new government on Friday was marked by traffic jams on major roads in Bangalore.

Long vehicular pile-up was seen on Race Course Road, K G Road, Sheshadri Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Ambedkar Road, Cubbon Road, Queen’s Road, Kasturbha Road and Race Course Road between 11 am and 1 pm. Traffic was not allowed on Race Course Road, Palace Road and Dr Ambedkar Road for nearly an hour during the swearing-in ceremony as a crowd of nearly 25,000 had gathered to witness the event.

Traffic jam was also witnessed on Miller’s Road and Cole’s Park Junction for nearly 45 minutes around 1 pm. However, police said the traffic jam on these roads were not related to the restrictions following the swearing-in ceremony. It was due to a breakdown of a vehicle near the Cantonment railway bridge, they added.
