K'swamy to improve brand Bangalore

K'swamy to improve brand Bangalore

Bangalore: Brand Bangalore is Karnataka's best-selling idea, and the new Chief Minister knows it too well. Will brand Bangalore improve under its new Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy?

Well, the new CM is certainly trying to shrug off the image of the JD(S) as an only-rural-base party.

On his first working day, H D Kumaraswamy called a meeting of top officials and the mayor to discuss Bangalore.

"We are trying to do everything to encourage investment. I've told our officials to speed up work on all flyovers and other infrastructure projects in the next three-four months," says he.

The focus, he says, will be on the roads which were ravaged by rains last year. He wants them repaired in two months. He has also sought suggesttions on ways to control the heavy traffic on city's roads.

"We need to see what to do with this kind of traffic. I've told officials to give me a report in 15 days to give a long-term solution to control traffic, something that will take care of problems that will crop up in the next 20-25 years," says he.

Three days into his new office and Kumaraswamy is promising a makeover for Bangalore. He has called on citizens to point out what's wrong with the city, so that he can fix those problems.

He is doing this to allay fears that he may ignore the cities to focus on his rural votebank.
