RESIDENTS of this layout are among the most unfortunate as they have to tolerate the unbearable stench of the City’s garbage that is dumped here.

W elcome to the second G K W layout in the City .

Though the layout, which is adjacent to Peenya, comes under a constituency that is represented by well-known politician T ejaswini Sriramesh in Parliament and D K Shivakumar in the Assembly , it appears to be one of the most neglected.

V acant sites and roads in the area have literally been turned into a garbage zone by lorries that dump the debris at night.

The lorries find it easy to dump the debris at night as the area does not have enough street lights.

While the lorry drivers don’t worry about the consequences of dumping garbage along roadsides, it is the residents and motorists who pay the price for their mistakes.

"W e are put to great hardship by things like glass pieces, syringes and plastic products that are strewn on the road," said Revathi, a resident.

Dr Surendranath, who resides in the area, alleged that despite repeated pleas to the Bangalore City Corporation (BCC), it had done nothing to prevent the garbage lorries from dumping the debris.

"W e find it difficult to stay here during the rainy season as the area turns into a breeding ground for mosquitoes," laments Shamsundar , a resident.

Sharmila, another resident, said : "The BCC has to install more dumping yards in the City to tackle this problem." Speaking to BVT , Dasarahalli CMC Commissioner Suprassana promised to initiate action against those who were responsible for garbage being dumped along roadsides.

The Commissioner also promised to have the debris removed at the earliest.
