The State government will introduce a Bill in the budget session of the state legislature to ban the registration of revenue sites.

The State government will introduce a Bill in the budget session of the state legislature to ban the registration of revenue sites.

Disclosing this to reporters in Bangalore on Thursday, Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar said he had held a round of discussion in this regard with top-ranking officials of the Revenue Department.

Though the State government had banned registration of revenue sites, the transaction of such sites has commenced in the wake of the Supreme Court striking down the ban which is imposed through a mere notification by the bureaucracy. Following this, the State government has decided to provide a stamp of approval on the move to ban the revenue sites by coming out with a Bill to amend the rules concerned, he explained.

Meanwhile, consultations were also on with the Centre so that both the Centre and the state could simultaneously bring about amendments to the rules, he noted.

The Minister also disclosed that a committee of officials, which is looking into the allegations of large-scale encroachment of government land in and around Bangalore, was expected to submit an interim report to him within a week.
