At the inauguration of a new auditorium in Christ College on Wednesday, Swami Sukhabodhananada held an audience of over 3,000 students in rapt attention and in splits, alternatively.

Quoting examples of martial artiste Bruce Lee and rugby player OJ Simpson he drove the message of courage and perseverance to students, amidst peels of laughter.

The philosophy of life was layered with anecdotes for the consumption of the eager students.

The other chief guest at the event, social worker Sudha Murthy said she is referred to by various sobriquets like Padmashree awardee, chairperson of Infosys Foundation, etc, “but I like to be addressed most as a former teacher of Christ College,” she declared to the surprise of many in the audience. “I was a teacher of Computer Applications in 1997-98 here and I used to have a lot of fun,” she added. The 2000-seater state-of-the-art auditorium has the latest acoustics and is powered by 200 lights. It also has the facilities for digital projection. Fully air-conditioned, the hall is geared to host interactions with CEOs for students, panel discussions, educational conferences and college theatre events.

Principal of Christ College, Father Thomas C Mathew read out the annual report. The inauguration was followed by a prize distribution ceremony and cultural programme.
