Bangalore: The city will call on experts from the US to study traffic and draw up solutions. US-based company Technology Solution Providers (TSP) is setting shop in Bangalore with an aim to initiate a dialogue on infrastructure and transportation requirements, said David Faria, chief executive officer of TSP.

Stating that the three ingredients of a world class city are economic vitality, good roads and public transport and he quality of life, Faria added that “Bangalore will have to step back and take a hard look at the longterm solutions for the transport system.’’

In three months, TSP is expected to bring in experts from the US for discussion with government agencies, business leaders, the academia and the local community. “Presently, the government is working solo and and takes to reactive planning. Short-term solutions of converting two-way roads to one-way thoroughfares seem like plausible solutions for the short-term, but will eventually lead to bigger problems of circuitous travel and longer travel times,’’ Faria added.

Is it weekend rush or another bottleneck?

M G Road, Cubbon Road and surrounding areas remained flooded with unusual number of vehicles since Saturday afternoon. Some vehicle users called it as an after effect of the reversal of one-way rule on St Mark’s Road and surrounding areas. However, DCP, Traffic (East) M A Saleem disagreed with this view and termed it as a usual weekend rush. CM N Dharam Singh said on Saturday that the government will sanction Rs 44 crore and more policemen to improve traffic conditions in the city. Against a demand of 1,500 more traffic policemen, the government has cleared the proposal to recruit 900 constables.
