BANGALORE: Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh said that the state government was committed to the development of the infrastructure facilities in the city. Singh told reporters that he would look into complaints of IT firms and sort out the problems by discussing with them.
The work on the Bangalore international airport is in good progress and will be completed in 2008, he said.
To a question on the appointment of a new chairman for BIAL, he said the airport work had not stopped. It is very much in progress and will be completed in the stipulated time, he said.
He said the government had prepared Bangalore traffic improvement project for Rs 350 crore and this is to be implemented over a period of five years.
A provision of Rs 44 crore has been made for 2006-07. The planning commission is requested to support the project by providing additional assistance, he said.
The government has paid a lot of attention to improve the infrastructure in the city during the last 19 months, he said.
The government has taken up the Cauvery water supply phase four stage two scheme work at a cost Rs 3384 crore to supply water to seven municipal corporations within the greater Bangalore after completion of the stage one.
The planning commission has fixed an outlay of Rs 16,166 crore and this marks an increase of 19.26 per cent more than the last year, he said. ''This is a big morale booster for the state'', he added.
