Bangalore: The land owners who had challenged the aquisition of land for Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project told Supreme Court on Thursday the land had been acquired without prior notice being issued to them.

Further hearing on the case was adjourned to T uesday by a Full Bench comprising Justice Ruma Pal, Justice B Shrikrishna and Justice Dalver Bhandari.

The land owners also told the court the acquistion was bad since excess land had been acquired. With the State Government, KIADB and the land owners concluding arguments, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Ltd will make its submissions on T uesday .

Bangalore: W ork on the much talked-about Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project will be completed by the end of 2007, according to Ashok Kheny , Managing Director, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Ltd (NICE).

Making a presentation on the project at the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) here on Thursday , Kheny said the six-lane expressway has now been made into a four-lane one to accommodate the Monorail system between Bangalore and Mysore.

"W ork is on as per schedule. With the monorail system in place, travelling time between the two cities will take just 45 minutes. People can commute bewteen these two cities with ease," Kheny stated.

The BMIC chief further said an ultramodern bridge will also be constructed on the corridor running above river Cauvery . "It will be an architectural marvel." Lauding the Indian judiciary for its independence, Kheny said if it were not for the Supreme Court, the project would not have seen light of the day . "The delays would have continued. Those whose land had been acquired for implementing the project will be given professional, vocational and industrial training, so that their livelihood is not compromised," he explained.

NICE, promoters of the corridor , say that once complete, it will be among the best in the world in terms of quality of construction and engineering design. VTN
