At present, the KSRTC fleet is 4682 strong. It also boasts of the largest Volvo fleet in the country with over 100 buses.

“We have 111 air-conditioned Volvos and 50 Mayura buses all over the State,” claimed Murthy.

Interestingly, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will add 410 buses to its fleet in the next six months. “We will place an order for 410 buses in another two weeks and by end of April or May, we will have 4500 buses,” said Upendra Tripathi, Managing Director of BMTC.

Earlier last year, BMTC had announced that by end of October this year, it would introduce an additional 500 buses, but that did not happen.
