Five new parking complexes planned

Five new parking complexes planned
The Times of India

Bangalore: Bigger, better and more technologically evolved parking complexes. The city is slated to have five new parking complexes in and around the Central Business Districts, with a capacity of 2,000 to 2,500 four-wheelers.

Informing this on the sidelights of a comprehensive presentation on the parking situation, trends and problems nationally, N Sathyanarayanan, managing director of Central Parking Services, said that often a trade-off between revenue and land, lead to parking problems in the city. The new ones would apparently be upgraded in terms of a bay monitoring system.

The parking services company which has designed the parking lots for major malls in Bangalore (Garuda, Forum, Maharaja Parking Complex, Sigma) before finalising the design for any particular complex, apparently undertook a national survey to understand the demographics.

SOME FINDINGS

•68% of shoppers consider parking as a major factor for choosing a shopping mall.

•79% of corporates consider parking a basic amenity before joining a particular office.

•83% office-goers consider lack of parking space and going around in circles as a major impediment in quality of work and performance.
