BANGALORE: Nasscom President Kiran Karnik has said that the infrastructure was draining and needed attention. The Industry was growing at over 40 per cent rate and the infrastructure is moving at just three per cent, he said.

“Being the biggest industry, it is hurting us. It is and issue that needs attention,” he said. He was speaking to reporters, during the India Strategy Summit, here on Friday.

Bangalore has now become Brand India and so it has to be projected as a positive city. He expressed his happiness over the resuming of construction of the Airport Road flyover.

“The project was at a standstill for almost a year. As soon as we enter Bangalore, we could literally see the steel rusting. Now I am glad that the work has resumed,” he said.

On Bangalore being named as Bengaluru, he said that it would not make much difference.

“I don't know why people want to change names. Names have been changed in India and abroad too, and it doesn’t make much difference. Bangalore and Bengaluru are similar alphabetically and phonetically. It is not like Madras and Chennai,” he said.
