BANGALORE: The spectacular Butterflies here, are waiting to exhibit their beautiful wings to the guests.

But, they still need to flourish without visitors for some more time as the much-awaited inauguration of Butterfly Park has been postponed January next year.

Earlier, it was decided to throw open the Butterfly park for the public at the famous wildlife destination the Banneragatta Biological Park (BBP) in November second week by the President A P J Abdul Kalam.

The credit of postponing the inauguration goes to the condition of the road, known as Banneragatta main road. Your safari virtually begins once you move on the Banneragatta road. Until the road is not repaired the authorities can't ferry the convoy of the President.

“The Butterfly park is ready to open any given day. The researchers are already working in the laboratories’.

“Once the Government decides to invite the President the park will be thrown open to the tourists,'' B Jayaram, Assistant Conservator of Forests, BBP, told this website’s newspaper.

He didn’t blame the road condition for the delay in opening the park, however, he admitted that road should be repaired for the benefit of the visitors.

“We are positive that the Banneragatta road will be ready by next month and inauguration will be scheduled in the second or third week of January,'' he added.

The new butterfly park is situated in the area of 12 acres. It will a part of BBP which is a must visit destination for the Science students, researchers, biologists and for those who want to know more about the beautiful insects of our nature.

The Butterfly park has been built in a doom shaped structure with 113 feet in wide and 55 feet tall. The park already has more than 1,500 butterflys of 30 different species.

“The special feature of this park is that the park will not import any pupae from the tropical countries”.

“Rearing the species will be done in their own laboratory situated in the park and the species will left in the doom,'' said an official from the Butterfly park.

Butterflies are the flagship species of insect community and it is interesting to know about their life cycle.

An average life of butterflies will be 15 to 60 days and will be go through four stages.

The life cycle of a butterfly will include Egg, Larvae, Pupae and Adults stages and one can see every stage in this park. The visitors are also assessable to the laboratory, research centre along with the park.
