BANGALORE: Infosys Chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy on Saturday said he would not reconsider his resignation as Chairman of Bangalore International Airport Limited - a post he renounced last month after a public spat with former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.

“No” came the reply when reporters asked him here on whether he would withdraw his resignation.

The Infosys chairman had quit as Head of BIAL after Gowda, whose JD (S) is a coalition partner in the Karnataka government, questioned his contribution to the airport project.

On whether his absence would affect the project, he said: “An institution is always bigger than the individual and we have zero stake in BIAL.”

Murthy also brushed aside questions on whether his resignation and charges of land grabbing levelled by Gowda against some it companies would have an impact on Infosys' business.

“It will not have any impact on our business or expansion plans. We are building in Mysore, in Mangalore. It will not affect us,” he said.

But asked whether Gowda's criticism had hurt him, Murthy said: “For my part I have never ever criticised any politician in the country or Karnataka by name.”

Replying to a question on allegations about it companies grabbing land from indigent farmers, Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai, who was present along with Murthy, said: “Once and for all, this controversy must be put to rest.

We have acquired land at market value and not deprived any farmers of any land.

“The right of any individual to buy and sell land cannot be taken away.”
