HC asks IT firms to vacate
Deccan Herald

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed two software firms, housed in a rented residential building which has been illegally used for commercial purposes in Koramangala, to vacate the premises by November 30.

The Court also gave time till December 7 to the owner of the building, Mr Abdul Rashid Khan, to clear the construction put up by deviating from the sanctioned plan and in violation of building by-laws.

The US-based Bridgelines Software and Turin Networks (India) Pvt Ltd - had moved the Court seeking more time to vacate the premises (Haleema Centre, bearing No-60, 60 Feet Road, 5th Block) for shifting servers and other equipment.

They said the time given

by the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike in its notice issued on October 11 was insufficient.

On the other hand, Mr Abdul Rashid Khan, the landlord, had sought more time to remove the illegal portions. The BMP had found that the third floor of the building was put up without a sanctioned plan.

While granting a month time to the landlord to remove the illegal constructions on his own, the High Court gave liberty to the BMP to take action as per law if the petitioner failed to clear the violations.
