Traffic limps back to normal on Hosur Road

BANGALORE: The respite from rains on Wednesday has allowed the badly-hit Hosur Road to limp back to some semblance of normalcy, with vehicles plying without any mishaps.
But the road continued to be waterlogged on Wednesday as the overflow from Madiwala tank did not ease up.
Heavy traffic has been diverted from the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border itself, in order to lessen the load on Hosur Road.
Lorries entering the city limits are being directed on the Attibele-Sarjapura-Hoskote route towards K R Puram from where they can proceed on the outer ring road. Lorries coming from Tumkur Road are also being diverted to K R Puram.
Meanwhile, the police have formed two teams to identify and mark manholes and open drains which pose a threat to motorists.
According to DCP Traffic (East), M A Saleem, the policemen are placing barricades near such drains and manholes so that they are visible from a distance.
Hosur Road has been submerged under several feet of water for the past three days.
The authorities are hopeful that the situation will ease up by Thursday though further rains could throw it back into complete disarray.
