Hosur Road still battles with traffic

Hosur Road still battles with traffic
The Times of India

Bangalore: Hundreds of vehicles moving on Hosur Road on Wednesday morning had just one mission: combat traffic. But it was a losing battle all the way.

Hosur Road, one of the main inroads into the city, was convulsing under traffic which refused to move. Throughout Wednesday: hundreds of trucks, tempos, water tankers, cement mixers, buses, private taxis, two-wheelers, autorickshaws and cars lined in a parade gone awry.

Each time vehicles started, they moved just an inch. And then there was another long wait for covering another inch.

Till afternoon, a stretch of almost a kilometre was still under water but by the time it was evening, water was all gone. While those returning home were initially surprised, they later realised that the water was pumped out as the chief minister was inspecting the area.

To add to the mess, by around 2.30 pm a garbage truck broke down not just blocking the road but adding to the mess. Service roads leading off were even crazier. Vehicles moved any which way; a turtled auto further reduced space on the service road. The interior parts too presented a grim picture. Reduced to cesspools, there was more slush than roads.
