Following heavy rains since Sunday night more than 4,000 telephone lines in Basavanagudi, Avenue Road, SJP Road, SP Road, Kalasipalyam, K P East, Cottonpet, K G Road, Kempe Gowda Bus stand, Lingarajpuram, Kariyanapalya, HAL II Stage, Indira Nagar II stage, Binnamangala, Kodihalli, Old Madras Road, Mattadahalli Extension have snapped. According to BSNL officials, many telephone cables have snapped and the restoration work was in progress. It would take couple of days, the officials said.

Meanwhile, the restoration of 6,500 telephones lines which snapped on Sunday after the BSNL Hosur Road exchange was submerged, will take another two days.

Speaking to Deccan Herald , B Mishra, General Manager (Central), BSNL, said the entire telephone exchange has been submerged in about seven feet of water. The uninterrupted power supply (UPS), the power plant and various other electronic equipment at the exchange have been damaged.
