May God keep city clean!

BANGALORE: Leave it to the God, when your efforts fail to yield result’’, they say. This is what exactly several helpless people in many localities in the City did and are enjoying the ‘fruits given by the God’.

A unique technique of pasting God’s photos or keeping small idols is a fast catching up practice in the city, with landlords of houses getting fed up with garbage, spitting and open defecation problems.

Surprisingly, it is not only the residents, even the area corporators, offices and even hospitals have started to adopt this technique.

Says Nagananda, executive in a private firm, ‘‘Corner sites are prone to public nuisances”.

“There is a playground right in front of my house and they do not have the facilities there. So, naturally they look places to attend nature calls”.

“The matter would be worse after Sunset,’’ he said, ‘‘Moreover the stink is unbearable”.

“We cannot keep guarding our surroundings all the time. There were lot of times we have warned many people but they just refuse to listen to us”.

“It was then this idea stuck my mind. We have pasted God’s photos on the walls, besides fencing around. Done that, we really got rid of the problem to a large extent’’. Many followed the suit.

All the actions taken by the government, whether it is imposing fine or initiating any other strict action, could make little impact.

Corporator Sathyanarayana said that he also had pasted stickers of various Gods on the compound walls of the park, colleges, which are normally the vulnerable sites.

‘‘People fear God. They will simply desist themselves from spoiling the surroundings, after seeing the photos. If this also does not yield fruits, what more can we do?’’

‘‘I came to know most of the people especially who reside in the corner houses install the god photographs for Vaastu considerations,’’ he said.

But Vaastu and Feng Shui specialist Ajay of Ostara shop said that there is no such concept like this in Vaastu and people use only to keep their surroundings clean.
