“ This is obviously not at all a good signal. Many of us are learning to partner the government. Karnataka has taken a headstart in private-public partnership, we are happy to be working with government. But I am quite concerned now. If I am going to give my time to government, and if I ask them to be more accountable, I should not be victimised later. Mr Murthy is an icon. He has worked with the government in a helpful, positive way. For him to be in such a situation is very worrying. It is very dangerous.”

‘‘I don’t think it is correct that the government of Karnataka is attacking the IT industry. Some stray comments have been made which are hitting the headlines. I think the government of every state appreciates that the IT industry is a major employment generator. Apart from congestion of roads, the IT industry is not a guzzler of power or a polluting industry. I think everything is getting blown out of proportion.”

‘‘This is an event, which is unfortunate. This casts doubt on the private-public partnership model of governance which is working well worldwide. I hope the airport project is not affected as a result. Investments to the state will not be affected since this just one incident.
Anant Koppar, President, Mphasis Technologies I am unhappy with the problem between Deve Gowda and Narayana Murthy. It is not good for the state or the city. Murthy’s involvement has made the airport project possible. When files did not move and the project was delayed, he was instrumental in getting the project going. It is not right to question his contribution.’’

‘‘It is very unfortunate that a leader like Murthy had to take such a decision. It is the government’s responsibility to look after the state. The fact that Murthy got involved as a facilitator, despite his constraints, has not been appreciated. My belief is that a strong private-public partnership is important for development, it must not be allowed to weaken. Now most of us will feel, ‘why should we get involved’.
