The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday referred a dispute over construction of flyovers on National Highway-7 (Bangalore-Hosur Road stretch) to the Chairman, Civil Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

The division bench comprising Chief Justice Nauvdip Kumar Sodhi and Justice B Padmaraj passed the interim order while dealing with a case between the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Limited (NICEL).

The NHAI is proposing to put up an elevated flyover on Hosur Road and the NICEL is constructing an over bridge to connect the NH-7 to the proposed Bangalore-Mysore Expressway.

A dispute arose between the two organisations over technical design of each other’s projects.

The matter reached the court after the NHAI asked the NICEL to change the design of over bridge stating that it would obstruct the structure of its proposed elevated highway.

The IISc has been given two weeks time to give its opinion.
