BANGALORE: Former Chief Secretary J Alexander has appealed Union Urban Development Ministry to take necessary steps to change the proposed alignment for the Bangalore Metro Rail project.

In a letter to the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, the former CS said, residents and traders’ associations in the City have represented for a change of the proposed corridor from Ulsoor to Byappanhalli.

‘‘We assure that we are not opposed to the project and if our suggestion is accepted there would be less cost and less number of people, who are doing small and medium business on CMH Road and 100 Feet Road will be affected.’’

‘‘We do not understand why the concerned authorities are adamant about the proposed alignment of this corridor though it is costlier and causes more hardship to a large number of people,’’ the letter added.
