Bangalore: A day after the government did the all-important “damage-control act’’ with the IT sector in Bangalore, things seem to be rolling.

On Friday, BCC officials, and industry biggies, surveyed the 19 roads to be taken up for upgradation under the short-term plan. Another survey will be taken up to identify the length of the road; footpath, shoulder drain; kerb stone; footpath ducting; bus bays; and walkways.

R K Mishra, V-P of Flextronics and member of the empowered committee on infrastructure who accompanied BCC additional commissioner and engineer-in-chief in-charge P.K. Srihari on inspection, said, “We will send a report on Friday’s survey to the chief secretary.”

At Thursday’s meeting, it was proposed to give road works to the Land Army, which gets certain exemption from the Transparency Act. If the BCC takes the usual route, the project will languish before committees or council.

“We’ll soon draw up estimates. The suggestion to hand over work to Land Army is before the government,’’ Srihari said.
