IT forum to support Government initiatives

IT forum to support Government initiatives

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Forum for Information Technology (BFIT) informed the Chief Secretary on Friday that its participation in Bangalore IT.in would be in the nature of anchoring/sponsoring a session, if held by the Government, on improving Bangalore's infrastructure.

The BFIT said this measure clearly showed that the IT companies were willing to support the Government initiatives.

The BFIT looked at it as a purposeful mechanism where all stakeholders, including the Government, could have their say on solutions to help Bangalore and Karnataka grow.

According to Bob Hoekstra, Chief Executive Officer, Philips Innovation Campus, "our boycott was a means to draw the attention of the Government to the infrastructure woes of Bangalore that affects all sections of citizens in the city.

"We are happy that the Government has now communicated its intent to address these issues and has sent some positive signals by announcing time-bound plans. We will support the IT.in by sponsoring the session on infrastructure. We will actively encourage our members to participate in next year's event if the plans are implemented."

Convenor of BFIT C.N. Kumar said investor confidence would no doubt perk up if the Government proactively provided a platform to discuss issues and comes up with solutions for improving the physical infrastructure.
