Designer comfort for bus bookings

BANGALORE: Next time when you want to book a bus ticket, you can do it in style at the all-new franchisee outlets of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

Ninety-six such new franchisee outlets will be installed in Bangalore alone and 34 across the State. The single window information and ticketing centre will be air-conditioned with a computerised ticket booking system and a waiting lounge called KSRTC travel house.

A KSRTC travel house at Rajajinagar had a soft launch recently. Bhaskar Rao, KSRTC Director (Security and Vigilance), said the new travel houses would offer all ticketing facilities for passengers.

“Already 40 shop owners have started renovating their shops. The festival season has begun and the buses will be filled with passengers.

"The corporation will open travel houses all over the State. All the 130 travel houses will begin operating before Dasara,” he said.

“Even the KSRTC is modernising. The travel house look has been designed by the Saatchi and Saatchi brand Management Company. More schemes are in the pipeline,” he added.

“Fuel prices are increasing and public transport is assuming greater importance. We are focusing on making bus transport more attractive and easy. The new travel houses will surely serve that end,” he said.

KSRTC ticket outlets in Bangalore fetch Rs 20 lakh as reservation value every day and Rs 4 crore a month. The KSRTC now aims to increase bookings through the new travel houses.
